Victory for Melbourne Victory
Our activity for Saturday was taking in a bit of A-League Aussie Soccer. Top of the table Melbourne Victory were taking on 3rd place Gold Coast, at the huge ETIHAD stadium. A la the US, the stadium was designed for cricket or Aussie Rules rather than soccer, and the capacity of 50-odd thousand was less than half-full. Perhaps most exciting was Dad's favourite ever Wolves player, Kevin Muscat, turning out for the Victory.
At the age of 36, and now captain, he seems to have calmed down a bit, and we didn't even see a challenge close to worthy of a yellow card. Quite the changed man (see the reputation section of his wikipedia entry if you're not already familiar).
Anyway, Victory thrashed the Gold Coast 4-0, much to the glee of Aussie James Coleman and friends who myself and DBN had the pleasure of accompanying. As I'm sure no one wants a match report, I think a few photos of the experience will suffice.
