Suzuki Night Market

Come on followers, come out of the woodwork.  DBN is still sitting pretty doing bugger all at the moment.  At least get him worried!

If you ever visit Melbourne, in the summer, on a Wednesday, you really must visit the Suzuki Night Market at the Victoria Market Place. Quite the little party going on there!

Suzuki Night Market

We were here for the first of the season. Food stalls, market stalls, and three music stages, all thronging with people.  We were shocked, and frankly disappointed, to recognize the awful poet from open mic night at the hip hop club on the main stage when we arrived.  We weren't sure if it was her at first, but once she opened her mouth and said 'the streams, the streams' in the same way she'd started her rap 'the boats, the boats', it left no doubt.  However this didn't detract from a lovely evening. Choosing food was actually a challenge. Delicious looking curries, crepes, savoury pastries all had to be ignored for a roo burger, with emu sausage and croc on the side. And we couldn't pass a local wine stall without ending up with a bottle for immediate consumption. Chilli Shiraz. Probably an insult to the sophisticated palate, but it had two of my favourite ingredients in, and they can count me a very happy customer. The diverse crowd only added to the spectacle. it was people-watching heaven. From the hippies and children shaking their stuff on the dance floor, to hell's angels bikers, erm, biking. Another event to add to the weekly calendar. If we're not careful, we're going to have something to do every day. My how busy we are! Probably a good thing to keep me out and about as some beefcake fool broke the handle to the hostel room door getting frustrated with it. He's comfortably the worst hostel roommate so far.  A light turner onner when everyone else is in bed, and a snoring juggernaut.
