Stuart Day 4

A classic road trip day full of good surprises and disappointments and the best and worst of the US. We sadly left our lovely motel room in marvellous Santa Barbara at 0700 and headed north under overcast skies through the most wonderful communities of luxury houses. First stop was Gaviota State Beach - if you want a holiday with no beach and a railroad running overhead, this is the place for you.

Then on to California's Danish town Solvang, a tacky film set kind of place. Lovely pastries, though.

We then discovered a remote beach called Ocean Park, where we met a very pleasant gentleman walking his dog who proved to be a firm advocate of a no vote in the Scottish referendum. Lovely beach and the warnings about white sharks proved to be genuine.
To be continued in the morning - I'm off to bed!
