Day 7 continued

After brunch, we avoided the Highway and headed along the Avenue of the Giants, a 32-mile trail through the only remaining original redwood forest. Spectacular, despite the weather. One of the fallen trees we saw was taller than the statue of liberty.

We then drove on to Ferndale, a preserved Victorian town. This was charming, touristy but it had integrity, unlike Solvang. We had a good look round and also stocked up on illicit hooch!

And so onto our nightstop in Klamath, a very small town - but it does have a bar.

Remarkable to think that we've covered well over 1000 miles in a generally northerly direction and we're still in California! What's more, we didn't start right at the bottom.
