Stuart Day 3
Woke up early this morning - not time adjusted yet - and were on the road out of LA by 0615. Amazing amount of traffic but it kept moving and we were in Malibu by 0700. Unfortunately, the sun never burnt the cloud off today, so it's been warm but overcast. Nevertheless, a lovely drive to Santa Barbara, which we reached by lunchtime. Our motel room is huge and the town is beautiful, so we think we may stay here for the rest of the holiday! We hired a tandem this afternoon - riding a tandem is a new experience for both of us and took some adjustment; getting started was particularly troublesome. This wasn't helped by the fact that we had a small beer beforehand and Steve failed to realise that a beer might be called Idiot IPA because it's over 8% ABV! I was far more sensible, of course! We're just having a rest before dinner at the highly recommended Brew House and I've been up to the Santa Barbara Mission, which is most impressive. Big day tomorrow, with a big mileage to Monterey and lots of things to see and do on the way. Hoping for some sun!
